CAPACITY HOUSE
DRAMA PRESENTATION AT ; ALLENTON The Presbyterian Church Hall _at Allenton was packed to overflowing on Saturday evening when the Lauriston Drama Club presented four one-act plays for the benefit of the funds of the Allenton School Jubilee Youth Committee. Extra seating accommodation -was pressed into use, but even then numbers had to be turned away. The attendance was estimated to be well in excess of 300. As a result the cause will benefit' by about £2O. The programme was identical with that presented in the Lauriston Memorial Hall on Saturday, July 19. The plays were: “The Green Monkey” (a comedy), “Soon to be Wedded” (a rustic comedy), “Murder by Request” (a dramatic sketch)', and “Hullaballoo”, (a comedy). Responsible for the production was Mrs Hazel Mounsey. The programme was extremely well received by the large audience, including visitors from widely scattered parts. At the conclusion Mr G. W. P. Mitchell (acting-headmaster of the Allenton School) thanked the Lauriston Club for their presentation, and Mr J. A. Mackie (president of the club) replied. At intervals during the plays Miss Noela Stevens, of Lauriston, provided pianoforte entertainment.
