INVASION OF EUROPE
AMERICAN ATHLETES (Rec. .10.5) NEW YORK, July 27. A decision to invade Europe in 1948 with about 500 athletes backed by a Budget of 475,000 dollars, Avhich is 50 per cent, above in 1936, Avill be made formally to-morroAV when the United States Olympic Committee meets in New York, says the “HeraldTribune.”
From 75 to 100 athletes Avill be sent to the winter games at St. Moritz in Switzerland from January 1 to February 8, and a team of from 400 to 450 men and Avomen to the Olympic Games in London from July 29 to -August 14. The spring and summer performances here, Avith the possible exception of those in the Avomen’s track and* field events, slioav that the United States' will have another of its greatest Olympic team-s. / Among the problems to be considered are transp station and the delicate question of carrying over food for American athletes. Europe is still on short rations, and lavish feeding of an American team could cause resentment.
