ROSE DAY
AUCKLAND R.S.A. APPEAL BARRED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, July IS. The time had come when a. halt to the number of street-collecting days should be called, said the Mayor (Mr J. A. C. Allum) when the City Council refused the Auckland Returned Services’ Association permission to hold ci Rose Day street collection. Mr Allum said there tvould be about £400,000 at the disposal of the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the Red Cross Society from patriotic funds to provide comforts for returned servicemen, and he could see no justification for holding street appeals in that connection. DECISION AT WELLINGTON (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 18. The Mayor of Wellington (Mr W.
