EDRICH SCORES 257 NOW CAPTAIN OF MIDDLESEX i LONDON, July 15. W. J. Edrich celebrated his first captaincy of Middlesex with a brilliant 257 —the highest score of his career —against Leicester. He and Compton made a stand of 277 in 130 minutes. Compton raced to his century in 100 minutes. Edrich battled 285 minutes, hitting four sixes and 20 fours.
