IMPERIAL PREFERENCES (Rec. 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, July 16. Mr S. F. Watson, South Africa’s Minister of Economic Development, gave the first official statement that Impeiial preference would remain as the basis of inter-Empire trade. He declared emphatically at a press conference in London to-day that as a result of the Geneva talks, Imperial preferences are not being scrapped. He added that in some respects they were being reduced.
