TECHNICAL HAVE EASY WIN In what was generally a. scrappy exhibition of football Ashburton Technical High School first fifteen had a decisive win over Temuka District High School first fifteen by 25-0 in the Ashburton Domain yesterday afternoon. Greater weight and superior fitness, in particularly the forwards, were largely responsible for the Ashburton team’s 1 win. In the first half especially, when he was being liberally fed with the ball, the Technical lialf-back, it. Carroll showed an inclination to go too much on his own instead, of sending the ball away to his backs. Still, when he did feed his backs, high passing inevitably marred what promised to be bright movements. S. Comer, the visiting half-back, gave a good exhibition of clean fast delivery from the scrum.
On the whole Technical’s tries came from individualist efforts. In the first spell L. Bell, R. Hayward l and C. Bigham scored, while R. Rattray goaled from a penalty. Technical 12, Temuka 0. After W. Hunter had scored at the opening of the second spell there was a long period of even play till near the close A. Brassell and L. Bell scored in quick succession, Rattray being successful with both kicks. The final score was therefore Technical 25, Temuka 0. Mr J. R. Bryce was the referee.
