CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND POWER CUTS “On behalf of the Board I wish, to thank you for your valuable assistance in the matter of power restrictions, and for your assurance that the Chamber of Commerce, a<s representing business people of Ashburton, will stand behind the board in any action which it is compelled to take to meet the difficulties which confront us,’ wrote Mr E. F. Nicoll (chairman of the Ashburton Electricc Power Board) in a letter to the president (Mr A. A. McDonald), read at the monthly meeting of the Ashburton Chamber of Commerce. “These difficulties are not easy to overcome and most seriously affect the comfort and convenience of the community,” added Mr Nicoll, “but you may rest assured that we shall 'endeavour to be as fair as possible to everyone, and no action which ve may find ourselves compelled to take will be carried out without the fullest consideration and a desire to minimise its effects as far as possible.
