EARLY MAIL

SERVICE RESUMED AT ASHBURTON Mail posted in Christchurch up till 8 o’clock in the evening should now be placed in the boxes at the Ashburton Post Office by 9 a.m. the following day, the aetingPostmaster (Mr G. B. Brown) told the Ashburton Chamber of Commerce this week. It was pointed out by Mr Brown that the postal authorities had now restored this arrangement for early delivery. At a recent meeting the Chamber decided to write to the Postmaster seeking the reinstatement of the service, which would be of considerable benefit to the business community. The Postmaster was thanked for his information and it was decided to express the Chamber’s appreciation of the move to the postal authorities by letter.
