GREAT RECEPTION
ROYAL TOUR NEARING END (Ree. 11 a.m.) CAPETOWN, April 17. The largest assembly of Europeans and Africans in the history of the Bechuanaland Protectorate to-day at Lobatsi greeted the Royal Family who were en route to Cape Town on the last lap of the tour. The King, speaking on ia farm named “dying place of the elephant, ’ wished .the populace prosperity and good rains. He called out “pula,” meaning rain, and the Africans repeated “pula, pula, pula.” . Two native chiefs wore the uniform of the Hdusehold Cavalry, complete with brass helmets and swords which were gifts to their forebearers from Queen Victoria when they visited England seeking protection.
