Artisans under new regulations now hold the status of Chief Petty Officer if Ist, 2nd or 3rd class,* and Petty Officer if 4th or Acting 4th Class. RATES OF PAY. /The rates of pay range from 16/9 per diem to 20/3 per diem for a Chief Petty Officer, with an addition of 1/per diem Trade Pay. Engine Room Artificers may also qualify for an additional allowance of 1/- or 2/- per diem. MARRIED PERSONNEL WILL NORMALLY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A MARRIAGE ALLOWANCE OF THREE SHILLINGS PER DIEM PLUS UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS A SEPARATION ALLOWANCE OF THREE SHILLINGS PER DIEM. . All ratings will be paid a Uniform Allowance to assist in the maintenance of uniform. Personnel on Short Service engagements will be eligible under certain conditions for gratuities on discharge amounting to £25 for each year’s service. Former Naval Service will count towards Good Conduct Badges, Good Conduct Medal, Progressive Pay and advancement.
