ASHBURTON RACING CLUB

STAKES FOR AUTUMN MEETING Stakes totalling £4750 were allotted for the autumn meeting to be held on May 3 and 10, by the Ashburton Racing Club at a meeting held yesterday afternoon. The president (Mr R. J. Mulligan) presided. The chairman and the secretary (Mr J. B. Nicoll) were appointed to attend a conference of clubs, convened by the South Canterbury Jockey Club,' to be held at Timaru on March 12, when matters affecting racing and trotting clubs and totalisator administration will be discussed. At a meeting of the programme committee held later it was decided that the-autumn programme would include a hurdle race on each day, and a hack steeplechase on the second clay.
