MURDER CHARGE
TWO BOYS BEFORE COURT (P.A.) TAUMARUNUI, This Day. The hearing of a murder charge against two boys, James Frederick Dodd (15) and Cyril Pascoe (14) began to-day before the Magistrate (Mr A.. Coleman). Accused are charged with the murder of Raymond Douglas Brinkman (23) at Temaire on January 12. Brinkman died in Taumarunui Hospital on January 18 folowing a bullet wound in the stomach. The Crown Prosecutor is Mr J. F. Strang, of Hamilton. Detective-Ser-geant W. H. Cromwell represented the police, and Mr A. J. Moody (Auckland) and Mr J. M. McKenzie (Taumarunui) appeared for the accused. Constable A. S. Ward, of Ohura, gave evidence that the accused, who were absconders from Mount Albert Boys’ Home, Auckland, escaped from his custody on the Taumarunui railway station on January 12, apparently through a waiting-room window during a momentary absence when witness went to get his coat from the luggage office.
