MILD AND OVERCAST With an overcast sky, conditions in Ashburton to-day were mild and calm. The sky showed signs of clearing as the day progressed. The maximum temperature yesterday was 66.1 degrees, against 62. S on Wednesday. The screen minimum last night was 47.1 degrees, against 40 on the previous night. The barometer to-day had risen to 29.51 from 29.28 yesterday. Observations at Radar Station Relative humidity at the radar research station this jporning was 88 per cent., while the barometer registered 29.34 inches. The maximum temperature yesterday was 60 degrees and the scfeen minimum last night was 42.3 degrees. FAIR TO FINE ~ \ (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: General situation: An anti-cyclone in the North Tasman Sea is moving east, and pressure is very low to the south of New Zealand. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows: — Light to moderate and variable winds with north-easterlies later prevailing on the coast; weather fair to fine, cool night and mild day temperatures. Further outlook: Fair to fine.
