HIGHBANK RED CROSS

AUGUST MEETING The August meeting of the Highbank sub-branch of the Red Cross Society was held in the Highbank School. The president, Mrs E. A. Bland, presided over a good attendance. A well-stocked sales table was presided over by Mesdames J. W .Thomas and .T. Bland, brisk business being transacted. A donation of £1 Is was received from the Highbank Young People’s Club for the use of the branch’s crockery. The president reported on the delegates’ meeting held in Ashburton, and it was decided that the Highbank subbranch support the Mid-Canterbury Centre in its effort to establish diversional therapy in the Ashburton Hospital, and £5 was set aside for this purpose. .

An invitation from the president to visit her home for the next meeting on September 11 was accepted. A competition was won by Miss E. Gilpin.
