DROUGHT BROKEN

NORTH-EAST NEW SOUTH WALES SYDNEY, August 29. Soaking rains have fallen in the north-eastern drought area where as much as 1.52 inches was registered within 24 hours. A shower which produced .02 inches was only the third rain to fall in the Sydney area in two months. Dairy farmers in the north-east believe that the five months’ drought has broken at last and are hopeful that a large proportion of the stock thought to be doomed will be saved. The position in the south-east has not yet been relieved.
