(I’.A.) CHRISTCHURCH. Aug. 23. Tim following decision wan announced to-night by the hoard of (lie New Zealand Trolling Association: — "Following on lho remit panned at (lie last mooting of llie Now Zealand Trotting Conference, an application was received from T. 11. Cunning (who had boon disqualified for five years in May, 1943), for the removal of the balance of the term of his disqualification, and the same was granted.”
The remit referred to, from the Auckland Trotting Club, concerned Rule 506 (0) and read: “Emergency Hale: (1) This rule halt remain in force until mid-night, December HI. 1947. and shall then expire. (2) Not-
withstanding anything to the con trary in these rules, provided the president or executive of the conference may dispense with or suspend, in whole or in part, the operation of or authorise such dispensation with, or suspension of, any of the N.Z Rules of Trotting where, in his opinion, such a course is necessary or desirable for the purpose of the rehabilitation of servicemen. (3) ‘Servicemen’ shall have the meaning prescribed by the Rehabilitation Act, 1941.”
TiMARU TROTTING CLUB OFFICIALS APPOINTED (P.A.) TIMARU, August 23. To fill the vacancies caused by the resignations of Messrs J. F. Montague (president) and W. A. Piddington (vice-president), the committee of the Tima.ru Trotting Club, at a special meeting to-night, and acting on legal advice, appointed Mr Alexander Anderson as president and Dr. J. R. Kingston vice-president, for the remainder of the year ending June 30, 1947. The vacancies' which followed on the committee by the appointment of these officebearers were filled by the appoint ments of Messrs J. C. South and B. L Blordorn.
