ATOMIC TESTS
ADMIRAL BLANDY'S VIEWS (Rec. 1 p.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 22. Vice-Admiral W. H. Blandy, who returned from Bikini, said he did not think the United States should voluntarily ban the atomic weapon. He added: “We all want to see it outlawed provided there are acceptable workable plans which can be enforced.” Admiral Blandy reiterated that -radio activity effects were much more dangerous than the explosive factor. He advocated continuing the tests, hut not necessarily each month. Admiral Blandy said the next, test, tentatively scheduled for March, will employ the same type of bomb as used in the first two tests.
