FEED FOR STOCK

RAILWAYS ASSISTING SYDNEY, August 22. _ The shortage of feed for stock in the north-west lias become so acute that the Commissioner of Railways has arranged for as many open goods trucks as possible to carry starving sheep to areas where feed is available. Within the next few days 10,000 sheep will be railed to Riverina and Victoria where feed is ample. The trucks will then be used to carry fodder back to the drought-stricken country from the south. The highest priority has been accorded trucks for this purpose, and 850 are already in use.
