COUNTY CENTRES

FLEMINGTON P.W.M.U. MONTHLY MEETING The, president, Mrs R. W. Brown, presided over a splendid attendance at the monthly meeting of the Flemington Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union*held in the Church on Wednesday. Mrs Omelvena read the missionary letter from the Rev. Laughton. All members were asked to attend the P.A. meeting on Tuesday next at St. Andrew’s Hall, Ashburton. It was unanimously agreed that the annual effort for missions be held in the Church on October 2 with a social afternoon. A letter of sympathy is to be sent to a member who has recently suffered bereavement.

All enjoyed an excellent talk on the recently acquired Presbyterian School (Rangi Ruru) by Mrs C. W. Anderson.

Mrs W. Brash sang the solo “Bless this House.” A vote of thanks was accorded the speaker and soloist by the president. A social half hour was enjoyed and afternoon tea was dispensed by the hostesses, Mesdames W. S. Shaw and S. Read.

WELCOME AT TINWALD

THE REV. AND MRS G. H. MOODY

St. Andrew’s Parish Hall, Tinwald, was well filled on the occasion of a function to welcome the Rev. G. H. Moody, who has recently taken, up residence after having been appointed to the Parish. . On behalf of the members of the parish, Mr N. L. Cornish welcomed Mr Moody. A floral tribute was presented to Mrs Moody. A small presentation in appreciation of the work lie had done while St. Andrew’s was without a vicar, was made to the Veil. Archdeacon C. L. Mountfort. Piano solos were played by Miss M. Jennings, and solos sung by Miss B. Millichamp. '
