TUG TO RESCUE OF FOOD SHIP (Rec. 10.10 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 2. A powerful rescue tug is speeding seaward from St. Nazaire to try and save the food-carrying American ship American Farmer after air reconnaissance from Plymouth showed that she is still afloat-after a collision yesterday.

It was stated yesterday that the American Farmer had sunk after a midnight collision with another American ship, William J. Riddle, and that 550 tons of wheat and other food had been lost.
