REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCH AT ASHBURTON The team to represent North Canterbury in a match against a combined Mid-Canterbury and South Canterbury team, at Ashburton on August 11, lias been announced by the Christchurch Metropolitan Golf Association’s selectors, Messrs A. R. Blank and O. A. Y. Johnston. The players chosen are: J. L. Blair (Christchurch), A. R. Blank (Waitikiri, captain), M. R. Blank (Waitikiri), C. W. Caldwell (Christchurch), I. B. Cromb (Christchurch), L. W. Fleetwood (Christchurch), R. D. Frizzell (Waitikiri), A. A. Holland (Christchurch), J. W. Jackson (Waitikiri), J. W. Logan (Russley), W. M. Sattertliwaite (Waitikiri), R. W. Smart (Templeton), G. W. Vivian (Russley), F. W. Walter (Avondale), C. J. Ward (Christchurch), and D. L. Woon (Waitikiri). The following Ashburton players have been selected to take part in the match: L. A. Watson, C. J. Bonnington, N. R. Farrant, W. J. Heenan and L. G. Harper. The secretary mentioned to-day that owing to the difficulty of obtaining caddies, it was hoped that the services of local golfers could be obtained. Great interest' is being taken in Ashburton in the match, as the opportunity of seeing all the province’s star golfers in action comes hut seldom, and a large attendance is expected.
ASHBURTON CLUB A stableford bogey match will he played by members of the Ashburton Golf Club on Saturday. G. B. Forrest, the well-known professional, will he in Ashburton on August 19, 20 and 21.
