WEDDING OF INTEREST
LARGE CROWD OF SIGHTSEERS (Rec. 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, June 12. The earliest sightseers arrived outside Westminster Abbey at 8 a.m. for the wedding of Lady Elizabeth Scott and the D\ike of Northumberland' this afternoon, at which their Majesties, the Princesses, Queen Mary and the Duchess of Kent were present. Eventually police reinforcements were necessary to control the crowd, which was mainly women, but which included many Empire servicemen. A party of Austrdlian®sailors in the crowd after the arrival of the bride broke through the police reinforcements, but the arrival of mounted police restored control.
Lady Elizabeth wore a diamond pearl coronet, which- is a Buqcleugh heirloom, and three rows of pearls, a gift from the bridegroom. She carried a white. Prayer Book, but no flowers. Her dress was of still parchment coloured satin, with a veil about three yards long.
