INAUGURAL MEETING HELD In the near future the Prime Minis-: ter (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) will visit Ashburton, intimated the Hon. Mrs Mary Dreaver, M.L.C., in- her address at the inaugural meeting of the Labour Representation Committee for the. new Ashburton electorate, which was held yesterday. Delegates from all sections of the electorate were present, there being an attendance of 53. Mr J. Olliver (Area 10 representative) also gave an address. The officers, who were elected: as follow, will take the place of the. old Mid-Canterbury committee: President, Mr J. H. Ward; vice-president, Mr G. Glassey; secretary-treasurer, Mr F. X. McDonnell; trustees, Mrs T. Pile and Mr J. Bradley; auditor, Mr G. B. Brown; executive, Messrs J. W. Tootliill (Hinds), J. Campbell and T. Fifield (Drivers’ Union), B. McKay (Mayfield), J. Scott (New Zealand Workers’ Union), F. M.' McAnulty (Rakaia) and Mrs H. Williams (Orari).
