COUNTY AFFAIRS

COUNCIL’S MONTHLY MEETING Ashburton County affairs were dealt with at the monthly meeting of the council this morning, when Mr H. C. B. Withell presided over tlie following: :—Crs M. S. Turton, W. G. Gallagher, J. Carr, J. Bland, H. A. McKenzie, J. T. Morgan, L. L. Richards, S. P. Taylor and M. D. McDowell. The secretary of the Town Planning Board advised that he would he unable to visit the district, to finalise .extra-urban schemes for Methven and Rakaia, until about the middle of June. He further suggested that consideration of any details be deferred until his visit. The South Canterbury Catchment Board forwarded notice that the administrative rate this year would be one-tenth of a penny in the £. The Clerk (Mr Kelly) mentioned that' this would involve the sum of £3770.
