HUNT HOLDS PAPERCHASE
?: ACTIVITIES' REVIVED The first event of the season of the Ashburton branch of the Christchurch Hunt wasi a paper chase on Saturday. In view of the fact that the branch has been in recess during the war years, there was an excellent following, the field comprising a number of ponies as ,well as straight followers. Much interest was taken in the event, parties of spectators following the chase in cars. The trail, which was over a distance of about four miles, was laid over the properties of Messrs Keenan, Cameron, Morris, Bruce, Gordon, Lister and Scott. It commenced at the showgrounds corner and concluded on a blind road in the vicinity of the glassworks. Messrs B. Fechney and J. Roberts acted as hounds. The riders were Dr. M. Stewart, Mesdam.es E. Gray, G. Stevens, R. W. Campbell, H. Bruce, Miss J. Grigg, Messrs B. Fechney, W. Lemon, J. Roberts, R. Hefford, R. McKibbon, J. Coffey, and E. Gray. On ponies were Brian Nicoll, Beverley Hide, Edna Moore, Jennifer Ryburn, Julie Nicoll and Shirley Lowery.
