WARSAW GENERAL IN U.S.
POLISH AND RUSSIAN PROTESTS NEW YORK, May 25. Dr. Oscar Lange (Poland) sent a letter to Mr Trygve Lie (SecretaryGeneral of the United Nations) making the charge that the public appearance in the United States of Lieu-tenant-General Komorowski, who -in 1944 led the ill-fated uprising in Warsaw against, the Germans, is part of a hostile campaign against the recognised Government of Poland.
Dr. Lange declared that LieutenantGeneral Komorowski openly advocates a third world war. He protested against the Assistant-Secretary-Gener-al of the United Nations (Mr J. B. I-lutson) attending a luncheon in New York welcoming Lieutenant-General Komorowski, when Mr Hutson is alleged to have said: “On behalf of the United Nations I want to welcome you.”
Mr Andrei Gromyko (Russia) also protested to Mr Lie, who commented that Mr Hutson was not authorised to welcome Lieutenant-General Komorowski on behalf of the United Nations.
Mr Gromyko strongly supported Dr. Lange’s protest, classifying Lieuten-ant-General Komorowski, who is also known as General Bor, as: an enemy of the Polish people. I-Ie added that Mr Hutson’s action could not be regarded as anything but inadmis, sable.
