UNUSUAL TURN

STRIKE IN SYDNEY (Rec. 12.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The strike which began eight weeks ago at the factory of Associated Battery Makers, Ltd., has taken an unusual turn. When 12 key workers went on strike because demands for an increased disability allowance were not met, other employees who were laid off looked for other jobs and found them. For some weeks pickets have been mainon the factory by the handful of strikers left. At last the Electrical Trade Union withdrew its support for the strike and ordered the men back to work.

The few last-ditchers left refused to obey the order or cease pickets, causing a complete deadlock.
