ROUNDING UP OF GEESE BY AIR

CATCHMENT BOARD MAY HIRE PLANE 1 A recommendation that the South Canterbury Catchment Board investigate the possibilities of using an aeroplane to round up geese, which were proving a pest in some localities, was made by the Board’s pastoral liaison officer (Mr C. J. Kerr) yesterday. He said that runholders in the Glenrock, Lake Heron and the Mesopotamia district were anxious to co-operate in any suggestions which the Board might make for the destruction of the geese.

It was decided to find out if a plane could be hired and if the runholders would bear part of the expense.
