R.S.A. REUNION

RECORD ATTENDANCE UNQUALIFIED SUCCESS Attended by approximately 600— easily constituting a record —the annual reunion of the Ashburton R.S.A. lasi evening proved an unqualified success. Speeches, items. refreshments, and the exchange of reminiscences kept Ihe gathering together until a late hour, and numerous congratulations were extended the committee on the outstanding success achieved. Visitors were present from Geraldine, Met liven, South Canterbury, Hinds, Rakaia and Christchurch. Apologies for absence were received from Captain C. If. Upham, Y.C. and Bar, Messrs R. G. Gerard and J. Aeland. M.’sP.. Captain Edmonds and members of the Christchurch R.S.A. executive. The president of the Ashburton R.S.A. Executive, Mr W, G. Welsh, was in the chair. Early in the proceedings he paid warm tribute to Ihe many ladies who had assisted in the verv attractive decoration of the hall. The following toasj-list was honoured: “‘The King,” proposed by the chairman; “Men Gone Wesl,” by Mi F. ,1. Daniel; “First N.Z.F.F. V by Mr W. V. Joyce, response by Mr K. Thompson; “Ashburton R.5.A.,” by Mr S. G. Taylor, response hv the chairman; “N.Z.R.5.A.,” by Mr Thompson; “The Visitors,” by Mr S. Weeks; “Local Bodies,” by Mr Francis. response by Messrs IT. C. B. Witliell and H. G. Ferrier; “The Performers,” by Mr D. Woods; ““Residents of the County.” by Mr A. A. McDonald ; “Orderlies and the Ladies by the chairman. Items were contributed by Messrs R and C. Sparrow, Air St. John’s party. Messrs C. Keeley, W. Mncanclrew and L. Langdon. The Muirhead Rosebowl was presented 1o the captain of the R.S.A. cricket team. Air S. Weeks, by Mr ,R. H. Pnggar, president of the Ashburton County Cricket Association, who congratulated the side on winning-such a fine trophv in their first season as a club.
