After 30 years as County Clerk at Geraldine, Mr A. A. Readdie tendered hisi resignation at the meeting of the Geraldine County Council yesterday.

The Station-master at Ashburton (Mr F J. Brockliss) is on annual holiday in the North Island. He is being relieved by Mr W. F. Owen, of the Ashburton staff.

At the annual meeting of the Ashburton Grain, Seed and Produce Merchants’ Association hold recently Mi L W Christmas was elected president and Mr F. L. Smith vice-presi-dent.

Mr A. W. Hall, who has been chief accountant at the head office of the Bank of New Zealand lor the last lo years, has retired. He has been with the bank since 1903. —(P.A.)

Mrs A. T. Smith (president), Miss L. Lewis (secretary), and three other members of tbe Ashburton Music I cacdiers’ Association left for Palmerston North yesterday afternoon to attend (he annual conference of the New Zealand Music Teachers’ Association.

Wing Commander H. Caradus, 0.8. E., who has been director of educational services to the Royal New Zealand Air Force since November, 1939, has been transferred to the- Air Force Reserve at his own request. He will resume his position as chief inspector of secondary schools at the end of this month. Mr Caradus will continue as educational adviser to the Air Department and to the Naval Board.
