FIGHTING IN BATAVIA (Rec. 9.30 a.m.) BATAVIA, Jan. 21. Stubborn Indonesian resistance forced two British patrols south of Sourabaya to withdraw under artillery fire to escape encirclement. One British soldier v 4 ’as killed and four were injured. ' A New Delhi message says that the British Indian Legislative Assembly, with the Congress Party and Muslim League voting together, censured the Indian Government on the use of Indian troops in Indonesia. Mr Jinnah and other lerulers demanded the immediate withdrawal of the troops. i The Government spokesman, admitting that, the Indonesian situation was distasteful, declared that the withdrawal of Indian troops before the outcome of negotiations between the Dutch and Indonesians would not be justified.
