WAR SONGS

COLLECTION BEING MADE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, January 21. The official collection of war songs and music of the New Zealand Services, which will form part of the historical records of the recent war, is being compiled by the Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington. Already approximately 300 items, including popular sings and parodies, marches and songs dedicated to the various units of the Services, have been collected, but no doubt there are others in existence which have not yet been discovered, it is stated by the Department. The co-operation of all members and ex-members of the Services and Ihe public generally is needed if Iliis collection is to he complete. Anyone who has copies of words or music of unpublished compositions which were played during the war, or can write them out from memory, is asked to send them to the Department. If so desired, any music .supplied will he returned to the owner after a copy has been made.
