CORSO APPOINTMENTS
-BEING WATCHED BY R.S.A. (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 7. Fearing conscientious objectors or others “who did not raise a finger to help the war effort’’ may receive appointments to'the Council for Organisation of Relief Services Overseas, the Auckland branch of the R.S.A. is keeping a watchful eye on that body’s affairs. The Association alleges that heads of certain religious organisations who displayed great sympathy toward conscientious objectors are also interested in Corso, and for that reason fears that some unacceptable appointments may'be made. The Association contends that these persons would be a serious menace overseas because they hold beliefs 1 which, do not represent the views of the Dominion. “There is a large number of returned men fully qualified to work efficiently for Corso,” said the R.S.A. president, Mr A. P. Postlewaite, to-day. He added that the Association intended to ask the Mayor of Auckland to call a public meeting for the purpose of electing the Corso Committee.
