NOMINATION OF HORSE “WRONG MAN FINED” (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 21. For not notifying an interest in the horse Stimulant, which should have been coupled with Sunny Grattan at the Winton Jockey Club’s meeting, J. T. Looney was fined £5 by the judicial committee of the Winton Jockey Club. The secretary of the Winton Jockey Club reported that he had failed in his endeavours to collect the penalty.

At to-nights meeting of the Board of the New Zealand Trotting Association a letter was received from Looney protesting against the imposition of of the fine. He said that he had fulfilled his part of the contract and any breach in the nomination was not caused by him. The secretary of the Winton Jockey Club said Stimulant had been nominated over the telephone by the trainer, A. J, Scott, who had not confirmed in writing the nomination. He. said that he had not been advised by owner or trainer of Stimulant that Looney had an interest in the horse.

It was decided to write to the owner of the horse, Stimulant, asking him to show cause why he should not be fined. Members of the board expressed the opinion that possibly the fine had been imposed on the wrong man.
