LABOUR ATTACK
CONSERVATIVE PAMPHLET (Rec. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, Dec, 4. The labour Party secretary (Mr Morgan Phillips)) issued a statement last night attacking the Conservative Party pamphlet, declaring that the Conservative leaders must either explain or withdraw it without delay, says the political correspondent of the “Daily Herald.’’ The pamphlet is addressed to young Conservatives and tells them that, in addition to acting as stewards at meetings, they can provide in times of political excitement an - efficient body of guards for candidates and other speakers, who are liable to receive rough treatment, thereby helping to keep peace. The correspondent adds: “Several Labour members of the House of Commons intend raising the matter in the House, saying that the call for bodyguards savour's too.mucli of Hitler and Mussolini’s political technique.” A Conservative Party official told the “Daily Mirror” that it was only one of many suggestions to young Conservatives on how they could help the party. “Tt may never be acted on. It is really a precautionary, measure—a safeguard against rowdy opposition.”
