FIRE AT METHVEN

BOTTLE STORE AT HOTEL DESTROYED BRIGADE SAVES CAR SHED A fire at the rear of the Methven: Hotel (Mr W. J. Halliday) about 11 o’clock last night completely destroyed a bottle store containing empty bottles, crates, wooden beds and a mangle. The damage was' estimated at about £2OO. As the fire alarm system in Methven has been out of order for several months it was some time before the Fire Brigade arrived on the scene. The outbreak was then soon brought under control, thus saving a nearby car shed housing two vehicles. This was the first fire to occur in Methven for about three years.
