FATAL INJURIES
MAN CAUGHT IN SHAFT (P.A.) AUCKLAND, December 3. Fatal injuries were suffered by Frederick William Shirnack, aged' 50, or Balfour Road, Parnell, when he was caught in the main shaft of the machinery in the .bottling department of the Captain Cook Brewery at-11 o’clock this morning. He was whitewashing the ceiling when his coat became caught in the shaft. He .wafrcarried round by the shaft, losing both feet and one hand, He died so.op after the arrival of an ambulance. CHILD DROWNED IN POOL (P.A.) GRF.YMOUTII, Dec. 3. Robert Charles Walsh, the 19-months-old son of Mr and Mrs C. Walsh, of Kaiata, was found drowned in a shallow pool at his parents’ residence ibis afternoon. The baby, wandered from the house and was missed a few minutes later. A search was made and he was found lying in the pool, only 18 inches deep. Attempts at artificial respiration were unsuccessful. BODY FOUND IN RIVER,,,, WAIMATE, December 3. Police, dragging the Waihao River on Monday, recovered the body of William Charles Hosking, aged 60, who left his home in Waimate to go fishing on Sunday. The discovery of his bicycle beneath a bridge at Studholme resulted in a search for his body, which was found in 10 feet of water. Hosking was married, with a family.
