LAST FLIGHT

R.A.F. PACIFIC SERVICE (P.A.) AUCKLAND, December 2. The last flight to be made to New Zealand in the Pacific service of the Royal Air Force Transport Command was completed this afternoon, when a Consolidated RY3 aircraft of the type which has been maintaining the service from: Montreal to Auckland arrived at Whenuapai from Australia. This breaks the only direct air link existing between NeAv Zealand and the United States and Canada. Commenting on the suspension of the service, Squadron. Leader Clark, D.F.C., officer commanding the Royal Air Force Transport Command unit at Whenuapai, said that the service was inaugurated for the carriage of military and Government passengers and for military commitments generally. With the cessation of the war against Japan there were no further military commitments. '
