RESULTS FROM SYDNEY EASY WIN FOR TEMPLE CHIEF SYDNEY, Dec. 1. At Canterbury Park the Summer Handicap, of one mile three furlongs, resulted: —Nightbeam 8.10 (Wheaie) 1, Wellesley S.G 2, Thanks America 7.2 3. There were five starters. Half a lengths; three lengths. Time, 2.24. At Mentone the Ascot Cup resulted; Temple Chief 8.7 (Heather) 1, Logical 8.7 2, Space 7.7 3. There were eight starters, including Stenelaus. Ten lengths; one. Time, 2.492. After Temple Chief had run away

with the Ascot Cup the stewards questioned the riders of each of the seven other runners. All were interrogated separately and the stewards refused to disclose the nature of the questioning. The inquiry has been adjourned. The race was described as a farce: Temple Chief,' who had recently been racing in Tasmania, where he failed to win a race, cleared out with a lead of 10 lengths by the end of two furlongs, and at the half-mile he was 20 lengths in front, while the jockeys of the other horses were just sitting on their mounts. Temple Chief was eased up from the straight entrance to win by 10 lengths.
