STORY DENIED

WHY HESS FLEW TO ENGLAND APPEAL TO STOP WAR (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright.) NUREMBERG, December 1. Hess told the United States psychiatrist (Major Douglas Kelly), who questioned him in gaol before the War Crimes Tribunal resumed, that the purpose of his flight to Scotland four years ago was to make a direct appeal to the King of England to stop the fratricidal war between brother peoples and thereby save the world from Bolshevism, says the correspondent of the Associated American Fress. Hess, who is obviously still gloating over the confusion he caused in the court last night, boasted about his navigational skill on the flight to Scotland and recalled in detail his farewell note to Hitler. He reminded Major Kelly that the British aviation magazine praised his navigational skill in taking off from Germany at night time and finding the Duke of Hamilton’s estate with the utmost precision. i*rajor Kelly later denied the story. Reuter’s correspondent said Major Kelly told him that the story about the King was something somebody had dreamed up.
