WOMEN’S DIVISION.

MEETING AT LYNNFORD There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Lynnford Branch of the W.D.F.U. The president (Mrs G. Chalmers) presided. Final arrangements were made for the children’s picnic which is to be held in the school grounds. Christmas parcels have been sent to members’ sons who are serving overseas. One new member was elected. It was decided to hold a garden party at Mrs L. Moore’s home in January to raise funds. Winners of competitions were: — Christmas novelty, Mrs L. Moore and Mrs Mooney (equal) 1, Mrs T. O’Grady 3, Miss P. Bishop 4; tulips, Mrs L. Moore 1, Mrs W. Bishop 2, Mrs Mooney and Mrs G. Chalmers (equal) 3; spring cabbage, Mrs W. Bishop 1, Miss P. Bishop 2, Mrs L. Moore 3; rhubarb shortqake, Mrs W. Mac Kay 1, Mrs G. Chalmers 2, Mrs R. Gainfort 3. Mrs Brash (Eiffelton) gave an interesting demonstration of glove-mak-ing and the making of slippers from felt hats. Many interesting examples of Mrs Brash’s work were on display. The hostesses were Mesdames' Donaldson and O’Grady.

MITCHAM-ROKEBY There was a full attendance at the November meeting of the MitchamRokeby W.D.F.U. held at the residence of the president, Mrs A. V. Penney. Two visitors were present, Mrs Hall (Auckland) and Mrs Hayman _ (Waimate). Subscriptions for the Churchill appreciation fund were donated generously. A letter of thanks for a parcel sent was received from Trooper J. G. Gimson. Members were asked to bring along the oldest garment in their home, and among them were two wedding frocks, one being 100 years old, and the other nearly 70. Competitions were for best bloom and traycloth made from a flour bag. Mrs Ziegler thanked Mrs Penney for the use of her home.
