WILLOWBY

METHODIST BIBLE CLASS The Willowby Methodist Bible Class members entertained Miss Marjorie Crossman and Mr Alan Wilson prior to their marriage. Mr G. H. B. Lill presented them with a hanging mirror from members of both classes. Misses Ngaio, Mae and Marjery Chapman sang a trio. Appreciative speeches were made by Miss Elaine Lill (Senior Girls’ Bible Class), Miss Joy Shaw (Junior Girls’ Bible Class) and Alex Davison (Boys’ Bible Class). Miss Dorothy Parsons gave a \ecitation. Supper concluded proceedings. At the morning Sunday School last Sunday Shirley Patterson presented the teacher, Miss Crossman, with a silver bread-fork on behalf of class members and Sunday School staff Missionary Auxiliary The Willowby Methodist Women’s Missionary Auxiliary was held at the parsonage. Mrs Bateup presided and conducted the devotional period. Missionary letters were read by Misses Elaine Lill and Mae Chapman, and Mrs Bateup reported on the recent conference of missionary auxiliaries. Mrs H. Oakley was in charge of the sales table. Afternoon tea was dispensed by members. Vocal solos were given by Miss Hazel Lill and Miss Elaine Lill. Mrs S. H. Lill was accompanist.

Sunday School Picnic The Willowby- Methodist Sunday School picnic was held at Lynnford crossing. A treasure hunt was won by Margaret Chalmers and Margaret Parsons. A happy day was spent in games and paddling. Luncheon was provided in the shade of adjacent willows. Tennis Club At the weekly Yankee tournament held on the local tennis courts the winners were Miss Joy Shaw and Arnold Lattimore, and the runners-up Miss Mae Chapman and Stewart Macintosh.
