A motion of sympathy with Bandsman P. Broker and Mr and Mrs Broker in their bereavement was carried in silence at a practice of the Ashburton Silver Band this week.

As a mark of respect to the late Mr G. D. H. Hefford, the Ashburton Silver Band stood in silence at a practice this week. Mr Hefford, who was a member of the Citizens’ Committee, was associated with the band for many years.

The County Chairman (Mr H. C. B. Withell) will leave to-morrow to represent the County Council at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Counties’ Association at Wellington on Wednesday. The County Clerk (Mr G. Kelly) will leave to-morrow to attend the annual conference of. the Institute of County Clerks at Wellington on Monday.
