BOMBING OF EIGHT TARGETS. ACTIVITIES ON TWO DAYS. WASHINGTON. June 10. Eight targets on Honshu were bombed by large forces of Superfortresses yesterday and to-day. Yesterday Nagoya, Narua, and Akashi were attacked in Ihe first triple assault on the Japanese home islands. This morning Superfortresses .went to five targets in the Tokio-Yokohama area. The Superfortress raids on Tokio, Yokohama, and Nagoya had made 1,790,000. people homeless, said the Tokio radio yesterday. Recent raids on Yokohama destroyed 132,000 dwellings and left 680,000 homeless. “A large force of Superfortresses attacked strategic targets in central Honshu this morning,” says a United States 20th Air Force communique. “They struck five Japanese industrial plants and repair bases on Honshu in daylight, comprising the Hitachi aircraft plant at Chiba, 20 miles southeast of To'kio, the Tomioka aircraft plant, five miles south of Yokohama, an Army air depot 24 miles west . of Tokio, the Hitachi engineering works at Sukagawa, 115 miles north-east of Tokio, and the Kasimabaura seaplane base, 35 miles north-east of Tokio, “All the Superfortresses returned from the attacks on Naruo, Nagoya, and Akashi yesterday. Most of the bombing was carried out visually from medium altitudes. Few enemy fighters were encountered. The flak was heavy but inaccurate.”
