TOC H.

An interesting talk on the “Battle of El Alamein” was given by Mr A. W. White (a former lieutenant-colonel in the Middle East) at a meeting of the Ashburton Toe H on Monday evening. The talk was illustrated with money used by soldiers in the Middle East, detailed maps, and interesting souvenirs, including a prisoner-of-war escape set comprising a small hacksaw blade enclosed in rubber and a compass enclosed in an ordinary collar stud. Senior boys of the Ashburton High School and Technical High School were guests.
