PRISONERS TO WORK.
NAZI ARMY CORPS DISCIPLINE. RAILWAYS, ROADS AND BRIDGES. (Rec. 2.20 p.m.) LONDON, May 14. A German army corps, known as the Ems Corps, consisting of 150,000 men who surrendered at Bremerhaven, having maintained their organisation and discipline to the last, are being put to work instead of idleness in prisoner-of-war cages, says the "Daily Telegraph” correspondent at Bremerhaven. The commander of the German corps (Lieut.-General Raspe) and his staff will be responsible, under British military orders, for organising the repair of railways, roads and bridges, also for farm work. Tlie troops will work under their own officers under strict military discipline. They will have German food, huge stocks of which have been discovered in the warehouses at Bremerhaven. Raspe has been told that if any man deserts or tries to sneak home his unit will instantly be clapped into prisonerof war cages. Units of the S.S. and Gestapo will not be used.
