SHOT BY POLICE.
AFTER EXCHANGE OF FIRE. TRAGEDY IN NEW SOUTH WALES (Rep. 1.10) SYDNEY, This Day. A soldier Avas shot dead at Orange, New Soutli Wales, last night by a detective, at whom he .had previously fired. Afto- a quarrel with his wife, aged 17, Pnvate Carl Hutchinson, aged 20, fired a shot at her but missed. He then threatened to do some more shooting. The police Avere called and Hutchinson is said to have fired point blank at a detective. The shot missed and the policeman fired back at Hutchinson, hitting him in the chest and killing him instantly.
