NEW BOMBERS
FLEETS OF GIANT CRAFT.
FOR MASS ATTACKS ON JAPAN, PRODUCTION IN BRITAIN. (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright.) (Rec. 1.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Fleets of giant new bombers were being built in Britain for mass attacks on Japan, said Mr John Storey (Director of the Beaufort Division of the Commonwealth Department of Aircraft? Production), who has returned to Australia after six months in England and the United States. The new bombers would have the same bomb capacity as the standard Lancaster but would have a much greater range and heavier armament. In the United States factories in all parts of the country were turning out Superfortresses or Superfortress parts for the war against Japan.
