BOOKMAKER FINED.
PENALTY OF £75 IMPOSED. (P.A.) NELSON, January 12. For carrying on business as a bookmaker, Leo Patrick Bowden was toed £75, in the Magistrate’s Court. He pleaded guilty. Detective-Sergeant F. Hayhurst said that Bowden was in business in quite a substantial way. On December 30 when tlie police * visited liis home £859 in bets had been taken and a further £52 was received while the detectives were present.
