FIFTY YEARS SYNE. (From the “Guardian;” Jan. 13, 1895). Grass Fire. —The fire brigade was called out yesterday afternoon to extinguish a grass fire in a paddock near Mr Mullaney's house in the north-west portion of the town. The engine was on the way to the fife in less than three minutes from the first toll of the bell, but the danger was over by the time it got to the paddock where the fire had been. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO. i (From the “Guardian,” Jan. 13, 1920). Commissioner for Tinwald.—A poll was taken at Tinwald yesterday to elect a commissioner to the vacancy on the Town Board, due to the resignation of Mr T. Williams. The voting resulted: D. W. Teppett 62, T. W. Petrie 3S votes. Mr Teppett was therefore declared elected.
